For most international cruises, we strongly recommend traveling with a valid passport, even if a passport is not legally required for your itinerary.

A passport is the easiest and most reliable form of identification when traveling internationally and may help avoid complications if your travel plans change unexpectedly.

Many countries require your passport to be valid for at least six months after your return date. It's your responsibility to ensure your passport and any required visas are valid before traveling.

Check your passport expiration date now!

Make sure your passport is not going to expire during your travel dates. Please do not wait to get or renew a passport as it can sometimes take months. If you are renewing or getting a passport within two month of the event, you will need to utilize expedited service. 

Note: It is important to check the expiration date on your passport to confirm that it will still be valid at least six (6) months after your travel dates.

U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that begin and end at the same port in the U.S.) may use your official government-issued Birth Certificate and a supporting government-issued Photo ID, denoting photo, name and date of birth, if you do not have a valid US Passport. BOTH documents must match the name on your reservation. Otherwise, it may result in delay or possible denial of boarding. A "birth certificate" is issued by a government agency (federal, state, county, city, etc.). This document is legal proof of citizenship that can be used by U.S. citizens for certain international travel. For states that have a "short form" and "long form", whichever document is government issued with the guest's full name, birth date and US birth place (city and state), is acceptable. A "birth notice" or "Certificate of Live Birth" issued by a hospital or other type of medical facility but it is not an approved travel document.

No refunds will be given to individuals who fail to bring proper documentation.

What Travel Documents Do I Need?

Every traveler is responsible for obtaining and carrying the required travel documents for their vacation.

Depending on your itinerary, you may need:

• Government-issued photo identification
• Birth certificate (for certain closed-loop cruises, if permitted)
• Required visas
• Cruise boarding documents
• Airline tickets
• Travel insurance information
